This is the exact feeling one gets after a stay at Hotel Intercontinental Magnificent Mile, situated at Michigan Avenue, Chicago.Blessed with a great location- the golden mile district housing an Apple Store, MontBlanc, Crate & Barrel, The Chicago Tribune to name a few from the list of who’s who in the life style segment. A great time pass location even for window shoppers, the hotel is situated in closer proximity to the Famous water tower and a host of restaurants serving cuisines from around the globe. Such a prime property does not even have a proper waiting or sitting area. The entire lobby area is allocated to ‘Jordan’s steak house’, and Star Bucks. Both are now an integral part of the main building. The property is exorbitantly priced during all the popular events which is no different than other properties during similar events all over the world. The weakest point is the Non-star Wi-Fi connection most of the time. The rooms are fairly small and the one allocated to me did not even offer any great view outside the window. No recognition of “Priority Gold card” members. Front desk and customer service levels are fairly average but the bell desk and concierge guys deserve an applause for arranging cabs and handling baggage while braving the early March freezing temperatures in this windy city.
This review is based upon my personal experience during the stay at this property. There can surely be much better rooms with much better outside view. But the lobby area is surely over commercialized and crowded.
