First you drink from the glass and then you eat it up, too. Really, yes- these consumable glasses create no- waste, rather you eat them up after drinking the inside contents.
The edible, biodegradable, colourful drinking glasses lovingly called “Loliware” currently taste Citrusy, Tart, Vanilla and Green Tea, but can be flavoured in infinite ways.
New York based creatively poised Chelsea and Leigh had spent considerable amount of time in experimenting with several materials before settling on agar, a seaweed-based odourless and tasteless gel. Originally created as Jelloware, the product generated a lot of news and even earned a prize for structural integrity.
The charming designer duo conducted a thorough R&D through field-tests, sponsored parties and food scientists to improve the shelf- stability. Made from pectin, a gelling agent derived from fruits, these glasses are surprisingly durable.
Poised to be vintage yet festive “Loliware” Citrusy Bitter is well suited for Gin cocktails, Salty Lime does a great shot with Tequila and Tart sour Lemon is like made for each other with Champagne pop. A chewable replacement for disposable plasticware, Loliware goes well with many beverages from Champagnes, Sangria to whiskey Sours.
Already considered a delicious ‘Cheers’ at the parties, “Loliware” is certainly worth a bite.
