Initially I was a bit worried to join two other friends for an Indian dinner. It must be too hot, spicy. Finally, joined them for this advantage at Indian Garden Restaurant situated at 247 E Ontario St #2, downtown Chicago area.

It was a day of Indian festival Holi and the restaurant owner -the charming lady Mrs. Sharma welcomed us with traditional Indian greetings by applying an orange colour Tikka on our forehead. The reception, waiting area is decorated with traditional Indian furniture. The restaurant is spacious and cosy.

We requested for non-spicy dishes and the order takers were careful about everything.

We started with some fried fish pieces and Panheer Pagoda. Both like the tempura and not spicy at all. The curries in main course were: Fish Thika Masala, Dal Makni, Okra fry served with Peas Pilaf, Garlic Naan and cauliflower stuffed bread.

All absolutely delicious and also not spicy or with any mouth on fire. I guess it was all custom made, which is always a great gesture and service.

Californian red wine to go well with the cuisine and later some Indian tea with milk and touch of sugar completed the big meal.

What I liked the most was a personal touch by the lady owner of this restaurant. She almost made everything personalized, enquired if all was as per our taste and if we were comfortable. A very personal feeling. She seems to know the business well. Later we were told that this Indian restaurant is among the 10 top Indian restaurants in Chicago region.

Very reasonably prices -the visit was worth its value.
